Is God worthy? This is a question every follower Jesus has wrestled with. Just like the rich, young ruler in Mark 10, we all have to ask ourselves, and answer, this question when it comes to following Jesus.

Many people think that the problem in the rich, young ruler’s life was that he had many possessions. But in reality, his wealth wasn’t his problem. His problem was that he had other gods. He prioritized, and idolized, his wealth and his possessions more than he was willing to commit to following Jesus.

While it’s easy to pass judgment against this man, the truth is we all make decisions about the financial worthiness of things in our lives. Every day, we make multiple financial decisions, and in doing so, we determine that some things are worthy while other things are worthy. And if we’re honest, many times the things we choose show that we prioritize and idolize things other than Jesus.

In this week’s message, Pastor Krista Ortiz provides us with a series of questions to help us identify potential areas of our lives that have become idols and strongholds, thus keeping us from following Jesus fully and becoming like Him in all ways.
