Giving FAQs
We believe giving to the local church is an essential part in the life and spiritual maturity of every believer. Fortunately, God has a lot to say about this in the Bible. We see examples of other Christians giving of their finances to the church (Acts 4:32-35; 1 Cor. 16:1-2). We’re taught that giving is part of our worship (2 Cor. 8:3-5). God says He loves a cheerful giver (2 Cor. 9:6-7). And, most importantly, Jesus said your giving is a reflection of your heart and the things you value (Mt. 6:19-21).
A lot! Of course, your financial partnership with Meta Church allows us to host weekly worship gatherings, pay facility fees such as rent, and provide ministry resources for the people of our city. As a church, we’re committed to using the funds we receive to make a difference in New York City and around the world.
Since 2017, we’ve given away nearly $200,000 to support community service initiatives, provide rental/housing assistance, distribute free groceries to households in need, provided 2,000+ free hair cuts to children and senior citizens, and we’ve even helped start churches from The Bronx to North Carolina and in Rwanda, Africa! On average, we’ve given away 16% of every dollar we’ve received.
It depends. At Meta Church, we believe “holding nothing back” because God has not held anything back from us. That means we’re more concerned with giving God our “first” and “best” than we are about giving a certain percentage. We encourage our people to strive for generosity in their giving, so a great question to consider is: What is the most generous thing I can give?
